A thick fog has settled in the fertile meadows of Carcassonne, engulfing entire farms and swirling up to the city walls. Even the bravest knights tremble before it, their armor rattling when they hear the monks' tale: "The fog brings the souls of the Cathars who were persecuted during the Crusades. They return to seek justice."
This completely standalone edition, yet compatible with the original classic game, is the work of its same author, Klaus-Jürgen Wrede, and features artwork by Marcel Gröber. It allows for solo games or groups of up to 5 players, aged 8 and up, with a duration of about 35 minutes.
For the first time in Carcassonne, players will work as a team to overcome a common challenge. In addition to offering a cooperative mode, the material in this edition can also serve as an expansion and integrate with the base game and any of its other versions. This is one of the most versatile editions of Carcassonne published to date!
The box is packed with components: 45 meeples in two new types, 60 tiles, and a set of rules that explain how to play this edition separately or how to integrate it with the original game.
The tiles feature roads, cities, and castles, but what makes them special is that many of them are covered by a dense fog. On these tiles, we will place the ghosts that need to be pacified as the game progresses.
The game unfolds according to the classic Carcassonne rules: in each turn, players will draw a tile from the common reserve and place it in view of the other players, matching one or more sides with previous tiles.
Gradually, a unique map will be formed, scoring points based on completed features (roads, cities, etc.). In this edition, for the first time, all players must cooperate to reduce the fog and make as few ghosts appear as possible to survive for three days. If too many ghosts appear or the days pass before enough points are scored, the game is lost.
The legendary tile-placement game adds a new title that will captivate fans of the series. But Mist in Carcassonne is also a great title for fans of cooperative games and for casual players who are not yet familiar with Klaus-Jürgen Wrede's classic.
