Forbidden Island is a cooperative game from 2010 designed by Matt Leacock, the creator of all the games in the Pandemic universe. In Forbidden Island, players must work together to save all the treasures from the island—before it sinks!

Each player takes on the role of an adventurer (pilot, explorer, engineer, etc.) and has to use their special power to help their team. The game is won when the players have collected all four treasures, reached the landing pad, and escaped by helicopter.

Forbidden Island focuses on communication and teamwork skills. Only the bravest adventurers will be able to coordinate with their teammates to save all the treasures. The island is sinking, but the four treasures must be rescued: the Earth Stone, the Crystal of Fire, the Statue of the Wind, and the Ocean’s Chalice.

To set up the game, players must build the board by shuffling the tiles and placing them face up in a cross shape. Each turn, players can take three of the following actions: move across the board, shore up sinking tiles, give a treasure card to a teammate on the same tile, or trade four matching treasure cards to claim one of the four treasures.

Then, the player draws cards from the treasure deck. To end their turn, players take on the role of the island by checking the water level marker, which indicates how many flood cards to draw. The locations shown on these cards begin to flood (flip the tile), or if they are already flooded, they are lost forever.
